Pores size depends upon your skin type. There are two types of pores. One releases sebum, and the other releases sweat. Sometimes, sebum-producing pores appear enlarged. Several factors, including acne, excess oil production, sun damage, and non-comedogenic makeup, increase your pores’ size. Here are some techniques and home remedies that will help to minimize their appearance.

Gentle Cleansing

Use a gentle and non-comedogenic cleanser to wash your face twice a day. Cleansing helps to unclog pores and controls sebum production. Avoid scrubbing your face because it causes inflammation. Pores are more visible when your skin is swollen. Instead, use warm water to rinse your face.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation is necessary for oily skin. It removes dead skin cells and prevents clogging of pores. Use beta hydroxy acid such as salicylic acid. Mandelic acid is suitable for sensitive skin. Polyhydroxy acids in facial scrubs provide strength to the skin barrier. Always check the concentration of chemical exfoliants in OTC products. Their percentage should never exceed the normal value of 7-10%. It is essential not to exfoliate more than twice a week because it causes dryness and pores to look more prominent if your skin is dehydrated.

Moisturization

Use an oil-free moisturizer to shrink the size of your pores. You can use aloe vera gel as a moisturizer because it deeply nourishes your skin and prevents oil and dirt from clogging pores.

Clay Mask

A clay mask helps to control excess sebum. Removing the excess oil prevent pores from getting enlarged. If you have oily skin, you can use a clay mask twice or thrice a week.

Sunscreen

Don’t forget to apply sunscreen daily. Overexposure to sunlight causes your pores to get enlarged. Many moisturizers contain SPF. The minimum SPF value that is effective is 30 or above.
