Most of our patients ask which to go for, micro-needling or the vampire facial? The quick answer is, it depends. So here is everything you need to know about the two treatments.
What is Micro-Needling?
Micro-needling is a cosmetic procedure that involves using a roller with very fine needles to prick your skin. It is also known as skin needling or collagen induction treatment. This procedure helps treat acne scars and reduce signs of aging.
What is Vampire Facial?
Vampire facial is the advanced form of micro-needling. It involves the extraction of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your own blood. PRP is rich in proteins called growth factors, which stimulate cell growth, healing, and rejuvenate skin. It brightens the complexion, smoothens the texture, and shrinks pores’ size.
The Difference Between Micro-Needling and Vampire Facial
- The bruising and redness caused by micro-needling are far less than the after-effects of vampire facial. The patient recovers faster from micro-needling.
- Micro-needling requires less time to complete as compared to the vampire facial.
- The bruising of the vampire facial may last for ten days.
- PRP initiates the cell growth response, and the results of vampire facial are better than micro-needling.
- You may require multiple micro-needling sessions to see considerable improvement in your skin, while a single vampire facial provides you with an impressive result.
- Vampire facial is more expensive than micro-needling. For example, one micro-needling session costs $399, while a vampire facial may cost you $999.
The Procedure of Micro-Needling
The aesthetician will cleanse your face and neck thoroughly and apply topical lidocaine compound to numb the surface for 30 minutes. Then they will choose a serum, vitamin C, A, or anything that suits your skin type and preferences. A hand-held device with microneedles is used in this treatment. The service provider will keep rolling it in a circular motion while applying the serum. It will create tiny skin injuries that trigger the collagen response and heal scars.
The Procedure of Vampire Facial
The licensed aesthetician draws blood into a syringe from the patient and runs it through a centrifuge, separating platelet-rich plasma. Then, they will pass a derma roller or micro-needling device over the skin to create tiny channels. The PRP passes through these channels and stimulates collagen production, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and scars.
What Areas do Both the Treatments Cover?
Micro-needling and vampire facial both benefit the face and neck. However, PRP effectively treats the delicate areas like the under eyes which show the early signs of aging.
Both treatments tighten and tone the skin, reduce signs of aging, promote collagen production, increase skin elasticity, and erase acne scars.
Always Choose a Licensed Aesthetician for the Facial Treatment
Although both the treatments are minimally invasive, it is crucial to choose a licensed aesthetician to perform the procedure. Ideally, a dermatologist or expert in injectables can perform the task.
