We’re all aging right before our eyes. We can’t stop it, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do anything about it.
The key to unlocking younger-looking skin may be right inside of you…in your blood.
The Power of Your Blood
Blood is made up of many different cells. Some of them are highly effective in healing damage in a way that makes your skin look brand new. Researchers have identified which parts of the blood work best for skin rejuvenation, and they’ve found a way to use them in the skin (and injected, too) in a treatment called a PRP facial.
What is PRP?
Plasma-rich plasma (PRP) is created with plasma and platelets from your blood. The PRP is then used as a facial. By placing blood on the face after microneedling, it triggers collagen production. Collagen is what keeps the face tight and smooth. Unfortunately, the amount of collagen decreases in the skin as we age. A PRP facial gives skin a boost from deep within, which helps it look refreshed and renewed.
How Estheticians Retrieve Platelet-Rich Plasma
An esthetician takes a small sample of blood from the arm. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge machine to isolate the plasma and platelets. Both the plasma and platelets are combined as a concentrated sample called PRP.
What to Expect During the Treatment
The esthetician will first cleanse the skin and perform a microneedling procedure, such as Dermapen. This creates micro punctures deep in the skin to help prepare it to receive the PRP. The golden PRP liquid is then spread over the face, and then use microneedling to work it into the skin. This will help the skin absorb the platelet-rich plasma nutrients.
Since microneedling creates small wounds, this kick starts the body’s healing process. The PRP helps the face heal better than on its own because the plasma-platelet concentration promotes faster healing and boosts collagen production.
Wrinkle Treatment with a PRP Facial
While the PRP facial can smooth away fine lines and mild wrinkles because it tightens the skin, it can’t eliminate all wrinkles, especially deep ones. Many injectors will use hyaluronic acid fillers and BOTOX® in addition to the facial to achieve the best results. In some cases, the client is a candidate for PRP injections to help fill in wrinkles and stimulate collagen production.
Fillers can be used to increase volume in the face, which is another age-related effect. BOTOX keeps facial muscles from contracting, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and preventing new ones from forming.
With all of these highly effective options in one procedure, you can get the royal treatment when it comes achieving healthier, younger looking skin.
