Can certain foods be ALMOST as good as BOTOX®?
Well, as an experienced injector, I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s as good, but there are foods that are superior and effective when it comes to promoting healthy, youthful skin.
Healthy Foods for Younger Looking Skin
These are the foods you should eat if you want to boost the results of your BOTOX treatment, or simply improve the look of your skin.
Vegetables
All types of vegetables are good for you. They are rich in water, which hydrates the skin, plumps cells, and can fill age-related creases in the skin. Veggies also contain potent antioxidants, which can help prevent and reverse the damage of pollution, sun, and yes, even alcohol.
Alcohol is a major dehydrator to the skin. It creates free radicals that damage cells. This accelerates aging. Alcohol can also lead to broken blood vessels on the face. You may have noticed those little red lines on the faces of people who regularly enjoy a few too many glasses of wine, cocktails and beer.
Avocados
Avocados, which are a type of fruit, are also great for the skin. As we age, our skin becomes thinner. The monounsaturated fats in avocados can reduce this thinning process and keep the skin supple. Avocados also contain vitamins C, E, K, B-6, and riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium and potassium (electrolytes), lutein and beta-carotene (great for the eyes), and omega-3 fatty acids (a skin super-charger). Even though they are mostly fat, make sure you include these in your diet to help keep your skin young and beautiful looking.
Montmorency Tart Cherries
These cherries work directly and indirectly to improve the quality of skin. They are a natural source of melatonin, which promotes restorative sleep. As you sleep, the cherries repair and regenerate your cells. Getting your “beauty sleep” is a fantastic way of keeping your skin in tip top shape.
Tomatoes
Tomatoes have a high concentration of vitamin C. This super vitamin helps keep skin looking youthful because it reduces the rate at which elasticity is lost. It can also increase collagen formation. Together, vitamin C rich foods can help your face snap back after making certain expressions, instead of leaving behind wrinkles.
The added benefit of tomatoes is that they contain a natural sunblock because of their lycopene and beta carotene content. This DOES NOT mean you should forego your sunscreen. It’s just an extra buffer against sun damage when used alongside an SPF 50 sunscreen.

In addition to healthy foods, BOTOX can be a part of your skin health regimen. The benefits are undeniable:
